This past weekend was beautiful! It was still a bit chilly, but the sun was out and I have missed it dearly! Friday evening after work Matt and I were lame (or just super tired from the work week) and just picked up some chick-fil-a for dinner. I was supposed to cook, but even boiling water for frozen ravioli sounded like too much work.
I woke up early Saturday and headed out for a very short 2 mile run. I caved and signed up for the Palmetto Bluff half marathon with 2 hours to spare from the sign up deadline. My calf miraculously healed itself between Sunday and Thursday and had been feeling really good. I ran 5 miles both Thursday and Friday with no issues, so I decided running one last half before the wedding wouldn't kill me after all!
Matt came over around 11ish after working at the office for awhile and we ran a few errands, pic and grabbed lunch at Zaxbys. Then we took Macie on a really nice walk around Jarvis Creek Park..the trail was only .85 miles so we walked around it twice. Our goal is to find a decently long trail we can take Macie for long walks on...like 3-4 miles.
We got home and rested on the couch for awhile in front of the TV before meeting Matt's parents for dinner at Truffles. Matt and I decided last weekend this would be where our rehearsal dinner would take place, but we wanted them to try it out and get their approval. After 5 baskets of bread, we had Mr. Hal won over (he likes bread- a lot). I got the same salad from last week, but sampled everyone elses dinner and then had the most amazing blondie/ice cream combo for dessert. We rented a movie, but decided since daylight savings was happening we wanted to go to bed early because I had the half the next day. So Matt took off and Macie and I went to bed.
Sunday morning Matt picked us up and we headed on over to Palmetto Bluff. It was a chilly morning, which is always perfect running weather. I finished the half in 1:52:36- a personal best! The course was a touch short, but this seems to be the case in a lot of races; it's never perfect. After the race we headed back to the apartment to relax for a bit before heading out to lunch.
(PS- we decided we eat out too much and are trying to cut it back...starting this week)
We had firehouse and then Craig decided he wanted to play golf, so Matt and I met up with him at Rose Hill and played the longest 18 holes ever. It was quite cold and windy by the time we left and (naturally) Matt and I were starving, so we hit up Mellow Mushroom on the way home. Told you we eat out too much.
Matt headed home and I stayed up way too late reading a book my friend Lindsey sent me. My 4am wake up call to work out was not taken too well. This morning my quads are pretty sore, but not sore like after the hilly Augusta half. They probably would've been fine if I hadn't done tae bo this morning, but my goal for March is to work out EVERY day, and so far I haven't missed a day!
Happy Monday! I'm ready for the weekend...heading home, getting my hair cut and highlighted, and engagement pictures Saturday afternoon! Can't wait to share- if they're any good!
