Run, baby shower, and birthday party!

Last weekend was a whirlwind! And it's already Tuesday!

Friday afternoon around 4 Dr S, Jen, and I left for Savannah to run in the March of Dimes Shamrock 5k! I love leaving work early, especially on a Friday :) I felt incredible during the race and got a little sliver of running confidence back, just in time for the half at the end of the month! I ran an 8:49, 8:30, and 8:29- and once I passed a person I refused to let them pass me back! Seriously, I felt good.

After the run I took Jen back to Bluffton then headed home to Matt, who had a grilled cheese waiting for me :) I stayed up until 10ish making more baby shower sweet treats, in addition to the ones I made Thursday night.

Saturday morning Matt and I were on the road before 7am heading to Augusta to made a 9:40 tee time dad had made...and so I could get there at a decent hour to help my mom and Meg set up for Steven and Caylee's baby shower. I walked in the door and spent the next 3+ hours making tissue paper ball thingys..super cute but highly annoying and tedious. The baby shower BBQ started at 4 and I think everyone had fun! Steven and Caylee got quite a few sweet items for baby Harper. Less than 1 month before I'm an aunt for the 12th time! We hung out for awhile with the family before everyone dispersed and Matt talked us into going to bed early in preparation for spring forward.

Sunday morning we got up nice and early, which felt awful after springing forward! We went and visited with Matt's grandmother and grandfather for awhile before spending some time with his maw. Then we headed back into town for Cal's 4th birthday celebration, which turned into a nerf gun shootout thanks to Stevens gift! Never a dull moment with my fam :)

We stopped by my grandparents house (so thankful the majority of my family lives in the same area) on the way out of town to pick up their coffee table they gifted to Matt and I. They bought it in Korea 49ish years ago and I'm honored they entrusted us to keep it in the family. I was skeptical about how it would look in our house, but I'm in love with it!

March on

"Wait, wait, wait...it's March already?!"
Exactly. Spring is right around the corner!

On to the weekend recap, which is all I ever write about anyway ;)

Friday at work was rough for both Matt and I, so we split ways on the way out of Bluffton. He picked up dog food and I picked up Zaxby's for us people. We watched the Blacklist and went to bed- pretty much our Friday night ritual!

Saturday morning Matt was up at 6:30. 6:30! I was not happy, but decided to get up and get in my "long" run before the day started. Usually if my run doesn't happy before noon, it doesn't happen! I did 6 rough miles and I was so glad when it was over. I booked it home to shower and head into Bluffton for Mrs Susan's birthday morning! We had pedicures at my favorite place- they do the BEST leg and foot massage during the pedicure, which is all I ever really care about anyway :)
After our pampering session we headed out for brunch, which was also wonderful!

I did some grocery shopping before heading back home, then ended up being lazy for the rest of the afternoon. I washed a few loads of clothes and surfed a lot on Pinterest. We left for Savannah around 5 to grill out with the gang and make s'mores by the fire. Also a great time!

This morning I turned off our alarm for church, oops. It was such a dreary morning and Scout whined for a good 30 minutes so when she finally piped down I just turned by alarm right on off. Slept until 7:45, which felt like 9! Matt made us some pancakes for breakfast and then he started pouring concrete under our porch so I cleaned up a bit then headed out for a short run. I ran a 9:08, 8:43, and a 9:08- and felt like puking! Pancakes and syrup + coffee does not equal a good run...lesson learned. Matt was still fiddling with the porch when I got back, so I showered and headed back to town again. This time I only gift shopped- got Mrs Susan's birthday gift, a gift for our mail lady who's pregnant, Cal's birthday gift, a few cards, and Caylee/Steven's baby shower gift, whew! Done.

We fried up a lot of fish with Matt's parents, Molly, Craig, and Emily tonight. Matt did a wonderful job with all the different fish and it was all delicious! Especially the bag of fries we fried, yummy. I'm finishing up laundry and will be heading to bed early. I have vaccine inventory in the morning, boo.

Hoping for a fast week! Friday evening Jen, Dr S, and I are doing a Shamrock run in Savannah then Matt and I are heading to Augusta for a weekend of celebrating! We have Caylee and Stevens BBQ baby shower Saturday and Cal's birthday party on Sunday. Fun to be had!

Oyster roasts and good weather

It's already Sunday again.

Last week flew by to me! Wednesday night there was a wreck on our road which knocked out the power until midnight...on one of the coldest nights of the year thus far. Poor Matt, when the power came back on around 12:15 he had to go outside to get the well working again so our pipes wouldn't freeze.

Thursday morning I had off from work so we could close on our house again. Cheers to saving money! I walked into a disaster at work which makes me feel like I can't ask off very often, which is annoying. Friday after work we had dinner with Molly, Craig, Megan, Scott and all the kiddos. I didn't get there until 6:45ish thanks to a long day at work, but it was fun! I just wish we could've stayed longer.

Saturday morning we were both up early, partly because of the dogs, but mostly because we had a lot of things to do. Matt went into work for a bit and I headed into Bluffton to do my long run and grocery shop for the oyster roast last night. I did 9 miles but really wanted to quit after 5. It was not my favorite and I'm looking forward to a shorter long run (6 miles) this coming weekend.

After grocery shopping I booked it home to clean, shower, and set up for the oyster roast. We had Dr B, Al, Dr S, Josh, Katie, Joseph, Jen, and Josh over for a little gathering, which was a ton of fun! Everyone was cleared out by 8:30 so we cleaned up and were in bed watching TV at 9:30.

Early service at church this morning, lunch, I grocery shopped for us while Matt is working on the other porch. I'm currently watching him but he's getting frustrated so I'll be leaving here shortly for a run!

V-Day weekend

Well, the weekend is wrapping up and I'm pretty sad about it.
Mondays come way too fast.

Friday evening Matt and I hit up the BBQ buffet in a Ridgeland after work...fancy dining I tell ya. We came home, watched the latest Blacklist, then hit the bed.

Saturday morning we got up at 7 (thanks dogs) and I made a blueberry buckle and cut it into heart shapes for Valentines.

I gave Matt his gift in between him shooting squirrels then he headed out for yardwork while I ran.

I did a nice 8-mile run and I felt decent the whole time. I turned on my iPod at mile 5, which I don't think I've done in over a year. It realllllly pushed me to run faster, so I finished my last 4 miles faster than the first 4! I'm all signed up for the Savannah women's half on March 28, so there's no backing out now!

Afterwards, while I was stretching and chatting with Matt, the flower guy pulled up. Matt surprised me with roses for Valentines! I forgets every year, so I just assumed he had forgotten again this year so it was a major surprise!

After showering I took off to run errands and he started another project- redoing our porches. I came home to this-

Apparently it's a little more challenging than he anticipated! He's currently still working on the first porch, but is hoping to have the other one done by the weekend. Anyway, last night we celebrated love day at home by grilling out and having a delicious dinner together...then going to bed early, typical us ;)

This morning was church nursery, lunch, me cleaning a lot, and him working on the porch. I was going to do a short run this afternoon but my knees and feet feel a little off after yesterday's run, so I'll start again tomorrow! No bootcamp this week so I'll have a few more run mornings. Happy week!

Lots of dog pics and the weekend

Happy Monday! I'm happy the work portion of the day is over :)

This weekend was one heck of a beautiful one! We spent every possible moment soaking up the warmth and sunshine!

Friday night Matt and I hit up the Mexican restaurant in Ridgeland; queso dips and a daiquiri for the win! We went home and watched the latest episode of the Blacklist and stayed up past our bedtime.

Saturday morning we got up and ate a big breakfast before I headed out for my long run and  Matt took the dogs on a long training walk. I told him he needs to walk them during my long run from now on, because he helped pushed me my last 2.5 miles knowing I would see them at the road!

After showering we headed into Bluffton to run some errands together, something we hadn't done together since we moved! It was nice hanging out with the hubs all day long. We grabbed some lunch, he did some yard work and I watched from a beach chair in the front yard ;) We went and saw Sniper afterwards for date night and stayed up past our bedtimes again!

Sunday morning was church, grocery shopping, grilling out hamburgers for lunch, more yard work for Matt and more sitting-in-my-chair-in-the-sun for me! Did a 3- mile run, took Matt's parents a frozen turkey, came home and relaxed, then turned in early in preparation for work Monday!

4 more work days until we get to do it all over again :)

Hey February

Wow, it's already February! January seemed to fly by.

The dogs finished Olaf off. Maybe because they didn't want him to melt? ;)

Friday night I flew out of work right at 6 to head over to Beaufort and pick up race packets for myself, Dr S, and her husband. We had decided at the very last minute to run the Chilly Bean race Saturday morning. I just needed some motivation to do a longer run, so I figured this would be perfect.

Saturday morning we got up, Matt made a big breakfast (to celebrate no more early AM duck hunts!), then I headed out about 9:15 while he worked in the yard. The race was really supposed to be a long training run, but as usual, I got there and my competitive juices started flowing. I set my watch to do interval running (4min run, 1min walk) and I think I ended up ignoring all but two walk alarms. I ended up somehow PRing (I think) with 55:xx! I also was 2nd in my age division, which was larger than normal at 19-29. Too bad they only gave out awards to the first place folks!

I came home, showered up, then headed over to the in-laws where we were all waiting to surprise Hal with a 40th birthday party! It was quite fun and I think Hal was really surprised, especially with all Steph's Star Wars decor.

This morning we jumped out of bed at 7 to get ready for early service at church, which we will more than likely keep doing. We ate a huge, fatty lunch at Buffalo Wild Wings then headed on back home to enjoy the warmth and sunshine! I sat on the porch with a few magazines watching Matt mow the lawn, headed out for a run (slow and painful, my punishment for going too fast yesterday), then Matt and I did a short bike ride to visit with some neighbors down the road. We're currently in our jammies watching the Super Bowl and doing laundry!

Happy love month!

Oh, heyyyy

It's been awhile!
No idea why I fell off the edge of the planet..we haven't been super busy; I suppose I'm just lazy ;)

Not much has happened lately. Matt went on a week long duck hunting trip two weeks ago and I had the pups alone, yech. I went home that weekend and hung out with my sis, niece, parents, and Steven and Caylee. Definitely a low key weekend filled with a lot of food and hanging out. I came back that Sunday and had dinner with my neighbors, who are sweet enough to take the dogs out twice a day while Matt and I work.

This past weekend was quick, as usual. We had dinner with Matt's parents Friday night after work, which was nice. Matt went duck hunting (for the last time this season!!), I took the pups for a walk, gave Scout her first bath (shamefully, since we've had her for 5 weeks), went for a 5-mile run (half training again!), bathed Macie (shameful, again, since she hasn't had one since her surgery), then showered up myself! Molly and Craig brought Emily over to meet the pup, then I headed into Bluffton to grocery shop and pick up Gracie Bea and Chance for the evening!

Sunday morning I took the dogs for a sunrise walk so Matt could sleep in a bit, since I got to sleep in on Saturday morning while he hunted. I was greeted with this gorgeous view.

We went to church, ate some leftovers, then headed out for what was supposed to be a relaxing kayak trip. Matt had the bright idea of throwing Scout in the boats with us- terrible. She whined pretty much the entire ride, jumped out 3 times, then required her second bath in two days. I did a super speedy (for me lately) run and we wrapped up the evening with a yummy dinner and TV time ;)

Now, it's almost Wednesday and January is almost over! See ya in February!

No, she's not allowed on the furniture. Rebel.
