July 4th weekend fun

Long weekends are my favorite, especially when both Matt and I had most of Friday off too!

Morgan and I kicked off Friday morning by going to the office for a few hours for me to do inventory. Not my idea of fun, but it had to be done! I was going to run errands afterwards but Morgan fell asleep as soon as I got her in the car, so homeward bound it was. We spent the rest of the day doing laundry, vacuuming, and waiting for my parents to arrive. Mom and dad offered to come down for the night so Matt and I could celebrate our 3rd anniversary! Matt was home around 2 to knock out yard work and my parents got here around 3:30 and we all just hung out until our dinner reservations at 7. Dinner ended up being super quick, so we hopped over to the Columbia outlet for a bit before heading home. We made it back by 9-- we're real party animals! My mom offered to get up with Morgan during the night, which ended up being amazinggg. Matt and I slept so good!

Saturday morning dad and Matt headed to play golf while mom and I hung out at home. Mom offered to watch Morgan so I could run, and I took her up on it. Scout and I did 2.26 miles to kick off July! We got ready and then met the boys at Chipotle for lunch, then mom and I hit up the outlets for a few sales. They left shortly after we got back and Matt and I had a quiet evening at home.

Sunday morning Meagan, McKenzie, Steven, Caylee, and Harper drove down for a beach day! We got to the beach around 12:30, sat around for awhile before we realized that not one of us wanted to be there, then came back home to spend the rest of the afternoon at a neighbors pool. Same kinda fun without the sandy mess! We ordered pizza for the whole gang and then they headed back home. I begged them to stay, but to no avail!

Monday morning I got up and ran after I laid a grumpy, not-ready-to-be-awake-yet Morgan back down for a bit. She was in a much better mood when I got home! We all went to Matt's parents and joined up with the family for lunch and hanging out. We had some delicious ribs for lunch, followed up by homemade ice cream! Matt and I came home, laid Morgan down for the night, then proceeded to stay up too late watching a movie!

It was a good and busy, fun-filled 3 day weekend!

Chicago!

Two weeks ago Morgan and I had quite the whirlwind trip to Chicago!! Here's how our crazy trip went, day by day!

Tuesday- I worked all day, picked up Morgan from daycare, went home and we did our normal thing. Matt bathed her and we put her to bed around 7:15 so I could finish packing and we could eat dinner. I put sleeping Morgan in her carseat around 8 and we made it to Augusta around 10:30 without a peep from the backseat!

Wednesday- up at 6 and out the door with my mom, McKenzie and Morgan by 7:45, Atlanta bound for the airport . We get to Atlanta around 10:30, only for me to get a text update from United informing me that my flight was canceled due to Chicago storms. Cue anger and total frustration. We sat in the airport parking lot for over an hour trying to get situated until we decide to rebook for the next morning. We all go for lunch at the Cheesecake Factory, then head to my friend Lea's house to stay the night. Lea and I hang out at her house with all the kids for awhile, then decide to hit up a little shopping and dinner.

Thursday- up at 6 and out the door by 7 for the airport, again! This time all is flawless(ish). No caffeine or much to eat, plus the plane ride (I always get plane sick), plus the car ride to my friend Rachel's house in Chicago resulted in me getting sick and having a headache for the majority of the day. I ended up taking a nap with Morgan and woke up refreshed. Rachel and her baby, Foster (born two weeks after Morgan!), Lea, Morgan and I went for a walk in their neighborhood, then ordered a deep dish pizza for dinner- so yum! We went to bed super early, thankfully!

Friday- Rachel had to work, so after the babies woke up from their morning nap, Lea and I packed them up in the Ergos and hopped on the bus for the zoo! We walked around for a few hours before taking it back to Rachel's apartment to wait for her to get off work. I'm pretty sad we didn't make it to the Bean, my favorite Chicago tourist spot!! Our friend Marlys joined us for dinner- Thai food- and we just chatted until we got too sleepy to talk any longer!

Saturday- we all get up, pack up the babies, grab some breakfast, then walk to the lake for a little picnic! At this point I'm really wishing we had rescheduled our flight home for the next day. We walked into town one last time and grabbed ice cream sundaes-- so delicious-- then threw our bags in the car for the airport! I took motion sickness meds and felt 100% better for the flight home! Morgan slept again, which was perfect- she ended up being a great little traveler! My parents picked us up from the airport and we made the 2 hour drive home, with a pit stop at Chick-fil-a.

Sunday- my mom grabbed Morgan from me after she was up at 5:30 to nurse and let me sleep until  8:30- amazing!! We hung out with my parents and sister and McKenzie until lunchtime. Morgan and I headed back home and made it back around 3:30. It was a busy 5 days and we're glad to be home!!

6 month update

SIX months. Half a year.
It's seriously crazy how fast our sweet girl is growing! Crazy, exciting, sad all at once.

We had her 6 month check up last week-- I can't remember her length (bad mom) but she was 16 lbs 3 oz. I love all her rolls. She's wearing 6 month clothes for the most part, but lately I've been putting her in some 9 month stuff. Size 3 diapers, which was well overdue. She had quite a few blowouts in the size twos, but I wasn't ready to move her up!

Morgan continues to be a great eater. She typically nurses 5-6 times a day for around 5-6 minutes total. In the past few days she's only been eating from one side, which is making me break out the pump at home- not fun. A friend told me she might be going on a "nursing strike", but she's also (I think) teething, and she just got over a yucky tummy bug. Hopefully it'll get better soon! She's still taking 3 4oz bottles at daycare too. I started giving her baby foods about two weeks ago, but I'm giving up and waiting until next month to restart. I tried green beans, carrots, peas, and sweet potatoes and none of them pleased her! I felt like I was forcing her to eat when she's not ready, so we're stepping back.

I was a little late to jump on board, but Morgan finally started napping in her crib this month. It's not going great, but she's doing a long(ish) 60-90 min nap in the morning and two 30-45 min naps in the afternoon. She's only slept through the night a few times this month, but last night was one of them, wahoo! I also stopped putting her in the sleep suit, so she rolls all around in the crib now. Sometimes in the mornings she'll play with her feet and babble with herself for 10 minutes or so before she lets me know it's time to wake up!

This month Morgan went on her first beach vacation and she did okay! She loves water so she liked swimming in the pool. She's sitting up pretty decently and rolling like a champ. Today we celebrated Matt's first Father's Day and I think all he wanted was for her to nap on his chest, which she did :) She'll be going on her first plane ride in a few days and we're going to run a 4th of July race together next month! We love our sweet girl and all the joy she brings to us every day.

Beach trip

A few weeks ago we had a family trip to N Myrtle beach! We had a blast and I am so thankful we got to spend a week with my family. It was Morgan's first week long trip and she did pretty good :)

Here are just a few, few pics. I felt like I was the paparazzi so I have a billion pictures on my phone!

I'm trying to get my act together and write Morgan's 6 month update next! Our internet has been on the fritz the past two weeks, boo. Morgan and I leave for Chicago next week, so wish me luck! Flying with a baby terrifies me.

5 month update

Wow, time really does seem to be flying by with our sweet Morgan! I can't believe our sweet baby girl is already five months old.

Morgan continues to be a fairly happy baby. She only gets fussy when she's really tired or hungry. She's such a smiley girl and we love seeing her huge dimples when she's grinning at us. She's laughing now also, but Matt is the only one that can get those great big belly laughs from her! Morgan also started rolling over from back to belly this month and in the past few days has gone belly to back too! She can sit up unassisted for short bursts of time, but I'm not thinking she'll be sitting up on her own for another month or so. No doctor appointment this month, so I have no idea how much she weighs! She's a solid girl though ;)

Morgan is still eating like a champ and is so quick with it too! She typically nurses 5-6 times a day when she's with me (only eats for 3-5 mins per side!) and 3 times on daycare days plus 3 4oz bottles. She doesn't love taking the bottle from me anymore but does fine when anyone else is feeding her. I've also finally weaned myself from the middle of the night pumping session I had going on- it was slow and kinda painful but I'm so glad it's over! Now on my off days and weekends I don't pump at all, wahoo!!

Sleep seems to be going okay. We finally started letting her fuss it out when she wakes up during the night. We'll replace the pacifier once, but don't go up every hour like we were doing! She typically gets her bath at 7:15, nurses, then is in her crib between 7:30-7:45, depending on how long she wants to snuggle. I feel like she kinda wakes up at midnight most nights for her paci and then sleeps until between 6:30-7:30. Naps are still a battle--she thinks after 30 mins she's good to go! It's exhausting!

Daycare is still going well. Her teachers like to tell me she's the ringleader of the class; when she's mad everyone should be mad too! Little stinker. This month we celebrated our first Mother's Day together! This coming month we'll be going to the beach with my family for a week, so that'll be an adventure! So thankful for our girl!

Fun in the sun!

Here's a two weekend update--wahoo! Starting with last weekend...

Saturday morning I tried for a solo run, but Morgan refused to nap so she came along. We did 3.1 miles and it felt kinda good! This week did not feel so good--the 2 miles I attempted Friday scarred me for a few days. Yikes. After our run Morgan napped and I sat in the sun for a bit before getting ready and heading into town for some "fun" shopping (aka not grocery shopping), before heading over to the Thomases for dinner.

Sunday was church, lunch, nap for Morgan, then pool time! I bought a small inflatable pool and she loved it! It was quite boring for Matt and I since all she can do is sit in a lap, but we had fun anyway. She splashed around for nearly an hour and loved watching the dogs jump in and out too!

This past week I worked Monday-Thursday and it kicked my butt! By the time Friday rolled around I was exhausted, and so was Morgan. I didn't feel fully recovered and not quite so tired until yesterday, but at least I feel ready for this week! This weekend we didn't do much, which is exactly what we needed. I ran Friday which zapped my energy for the remainder of the day, so all I did was laundry and vacuuming.

Saturday morning Matt headed into work for a meeting so Morgan and I went on a 40 minute walk with the dogs. Later on in the afternoon we went to Bluffton for a late lunch with Karmen, then I  swung by the baby boutique but found nothing that I wanted, which was a bummer. Matt and I had dinner and I was a goner on the couch again by 9!

Yesterday was the usual- church, lunch, grocery shopping. Matt went fishing in the afternoon while Morgan and I piddled around the house, then it was dinner time, bath time, our monthly budget planning time, then bed time for us! Sounds boring, but I love weekends like this!
