Happy Easter :)

What a beautiful Easter Sunday we're having! It's been a gorgeous weekend celebrating Jesus.

Saturday morning kicked off with a pretty decent 8 mile run. I convinced Matt that we should go to Nashville for my birthday so I could run another half and for us to get some alone time together before life gets super busy in May and June. Sooooo, this means I need to pick up the mileage on my weekend runs, which makes for one happy me! Matt also mentioned he was interested in doing the Savannah half marathon this year with my sister and I; made my heart smile :)

After my run, Matt and I both got our oil changed and vehicles washed...looks like I have a brand new truck right now! We ran a few errands and baked a cake for our Easter dinner with the Thomas'. We headed up to his parents around 3:30 and enjoyed chatting and eating delicious food. This morning, service was a little earlier than usual so afterwards we met up with Brandi, Darin, Miley, Craig, and Molly for brunch. Good company and good food makes for a good time.

Matt and I went to Petsmart and got Macie a few "training" toys. Matt's been reading up on how to make her a bird dog so he can take her duck hunting in the Fall. We took her to the park to enjoy the weather and test out her new collar...and work on her "skills." She needs a lot of work.

Matt has gone home and I'm supposed to be cleaning, but I keep getting distracted, per usual. It's time to get rid of all my old running shoes I can't seem to let go of!

Next weekend I'm getting together with Margaret and Molly to address wedding invitations, which makes it feel all the more real!

Happy Ressurection Sunday!
And happy birthday to the sweetest 5 year old twins I know!

Birthday party fun

Thursday and Friday at the hospital were not fun days, so this weekend was welcomed with wide open arms!!

Yesterday morning I woke up at 6:15 and knocked out a pretty decent, dark 7- mile run. Matt was here by 10 and we loaded up for Brunswick for Maura and Brody's 5th birthday party. The weather was pretty yucky, so the park portion of the party was canceled, but we had a fun time catching up with each other and watching the kids play.

Somehow the weather was pretty decent back in Bluffton, so Matt and I took Macie for a nice long walk before having a dinner date at Truffles. Pretty sure this was the 3rd time we've been there this month, and in Matt's words- if we keep eating like that every weekend we'll be 400 lbs! I disagree since I only get a salad...I know how to save room for dessert ;) We rented a movie and I fell asleep about an hour in, per usual.

This morning it was raining (again) and I realllllllly wanted a lazy Sunday morning with a big and yummy breakfast. Thankfully Matt convinced me we should go to church because it was a really good service. I had to leave and sit in the lobby area about 20 minutes in thanks to a coughing fit, but I could still hear out there. Plus, I still had plenty of time to make some Belgium waffles for breakfast beforehand, so it was a win-win situation! After church was another walk with Macie, running errands, and an ice cream run before Matt headed back home. After he left I went to Target and got a little nuts getting his Easter basket stuff and two baby care packages for friends that are due very soon.

Went for a 6-mile run, then another walk with Macie to cool down...now I'm icing an ankle that feels kinda weird and trying to amp myself up for another work week!

Mid-March

March is flying by!! I can smell Spring in the air and I'm loving it.

Last week flew by and before I knew it we were heading to Augusta for the weekend. Matt and I both got off work around noon and on the road by one. First thing, we dropped Macie off at Meagan's house and hit the road again; I had a hair appointment and Matt went to a sports store to browse around. Afterwards, we picked Meagan and McKenzie up for dinner and rented a movie (which was never watched). Mom and dads 33rd anniversary was Friday, so we got them a cheesecake and celebrated after their dinner date.

Saturday morning Matt and my dad took off to play golf, and I headed out for a run. Meg, McKenzie, mom, and I went and treated ourselves to pedicures- much needed!!

We had some of the most delicious sushi afterwards, and my mouth is watering just thinking about it!

Matt and I had engagement pictures that evening and we had the most fun with our photographer! She kept us moving around, so Matt never had a chance to get awkward and we never got bored. I can't wait to see the rest!!

We picked up Sconyers for the family and really enjoyed the time we had together! The night is never complete without Steven and Christopher wrestling with each other...

Sunday morning we got up for church and then had a meeting with our wedding singers- another item crossed off the list! I've wanted Miss Mary to sing at my wedding since high school so I'm incredibly thankful she is willing!

Made it back to Bluffton with plenty of time for a grocery store trip, a 5-mile run, and a long walk with Macie. I love daylight savings :)

This weekend will be another fun one- heading to Brunswick for Maura and Brody's 5th birthday party on Saturday! Keep your fingers crossed for no rain. I'd also like to squeeze in a long run and find a good walking trail we can take Macie to this weekend! And I need to convince Matt to take me to Nashville for my birthday so I can run another half marathon...1 1/2 weeks since my last one and I already have a major itch for another one!!

Weekend fun

This past weekend was beautiful! It was still a bit chilly, but the sun was out and I have missed it dearly! Friday evening after work Matt and I were lame (or just super tired from the work week) and just picked up some chick-fil-a for dinner. I was supposed to cook, but even boiling water for frozen ravioli sounded like too much work.

I woke up early Saturday and headed out for a very short 2 mile run. I caved and signed up for the Palmetto Bluff half marathon with 2 hours to spare from the sign up deadline. My calf miraculously healed itself between Sunday and Thursday and had been feeling really good. I ran 5 miles both Thursday and Friday with no issues, so I decided running one last half before the wedding wouldn't kill me after all!
Matt came over around 11ish after working at the office for awhile and we ran a few errands, pic and grabbed lunch at Zaxbys. Then we took Macie on a really nice walk around Jarvis Creek Park..the trail was only .85 miles so we walked around it twice. Our goal is to find a decently long trail we can take Macie for long walks on...like 3-4 miles.

We got home and rested on the couch for awhile in front of the TV before meeting Matt's parents for dinner at Truffles. Matt and I decided last weekend this would be where our rehearsal dinner would take place, but we wanted them to try it out and get their approval. After 5 baskets of bread, we had Mr. Hal won over (he likes bread- a lot). I got the same salad from last week, but sampled everyone elses dinner and then had the most amazing blondie/ice cream combo for dessert. We rented a movie, but decided since daylight savings was happening we wanted to go to bed early because I had the half the next day. So Matt took off and Macie and I went to bed.

Sunday morning Matt picked us up and we headed on over to Palmetto Bluff. It was a chilly morning, which is always perfect running weather. I finished the half in 1:52:36- a personal best! The course was a touch short, but this seems to be the case in a lot of races; it's never perfect. After the race we headed back to the apartment to relax for a bit before heading out to lunch.
(PS- we decided we eat out too much and are trying to cut it back...starting this week)

We had firehouse and then Craig decided he wanted to play golf, so Matt and I met up with him at Rose Hill and played the longest 18 holes ever. It was quite cold and windy by the time we left and (naturally) Matt and I were starving, so we hit up Mellow Mushroom on the way home. Told you we eat out too much.

Matt headed home and I stayed up way too late reading a book my friend Lindsey sent me. My 4am wake up call to work out was not taken too well. This morning my quads are pretty sore, but not sore like after the hilly Augusta half. They probably would've been fine if I hadn't done tae bo this morning, but my goal for March is to work out EVERY day, and so far I haven't missed a day!

Happy Monday! I'm ready for the weekend...heading home, getting my hair cut and highlighted, and engagement pictures Saturday afternoon! Can't wait to share- if they're any good!

Happy March!

In February I only ran 86 something miles...with 2 half marathons thrown in there. Hopefully I can get in more miles in March, and require less recovery time after long runs. I really, really want to do one last half marathon (the Palmetto Bluff half) this month, but I also don't want to spend money anddddd I've still had that pesky calf pain. So we'll see! Sunday Meg and I both raced in the extremely hilly Augusta Half...Meg did the 10k and did awesome and I finished the half in 1:58:45, and this run was for fun. The hills were nuts, and I blame them on the fact I've been sore all week long. Usually I only take 1 rest day, this week I've taken it easy for 5!

After the race we met the family for lunch at Cracker Barrel and had a great time. Meg and I did some shopping afterwards and then I headed back to Bluffton to start another week.

Tuesday evening we had a bridal shower for Dr. Kennedy from the peds office, who is getting married today! I really wish I could've made her wedding.

Only 4 hours left at the hospital for this week and I am more than ready for the weekend! I have a hot date with my future husband tomorrow evening and I'm ready for two good runs.
