Savannah women's half

I know it's lame to be blogging on a Saturday but after the half this morning I'm planning on resting my legs for the rest of the weekend! Plus Matt's golfing with the neighbor and it's kinda chilly outside :)

This morning I was up way too early for a Saturday- 5am. I met Dr S and Jen in Bluffton at 6, then we headed into Savannah for the race. The girls were running the 5k and were gracious enough to wait on me to finish the half so we could all ride together!

The course was beautiful. I went out too fast like I typically do- the first 5 miles were in the 8's, 6 was 9:02, then crap hit the fan. I lost the pace group I was running with and I struggled for the rest of the race. I stopped to help a lady having a pretty severe asthma attack right around mile 9.5-10, so I stopped my watch. My finish time (per my garmin) was 2:01:13...the official results had me at 2:08. I'm good with both, considering how bad I felt. I only ran once this week and it was only two miles..my last long run was over a month ago..so I'm the only one to blame for my performance! I'm already looking for a redemption run :)

...I started this post yesterday and never finished, oops.

I laid around pretty much all day yesterday when I got home. I'm actually surprised I even showered! Matt ended up going to play golf and didn't get home until 6, so we headed out for Mexican because he didn't want either of us to cook, win-win. After dinner we watched Gone Girl- intense! I read the book a few years ago so I didn't remember much. I'm just glad the language in the movie wasn't as bad as the book.

This morning we went to early service at church, came home and made sandwiches, then Matt headed out to work on the yard while I tackled the cleaning. Later in the afternoon (while waiting for my floors to dry) we drove out to Thomas Hayward's gravesite. Matt loves all thing history so we attempted to go by his house too but didn't make it that far. Scout survived her first ride in the bed of the truck though!

We just finished a delicious dinner- made solely by Matt- and we're already showered up and relaxing for the evening! My quads and feet are still trashed from yesterday so I'm really hoping they feel better by morning!

Left ya hanging...

Last Saturday after my crappy run I was supposed to come back and tell you I woke up at 5am before church and rocked out a 10 mile run. But I didn't, so I didn't ;) I ran 3 that afternoon.
Moving on...

Monday-Friday were a blur this week. I'm really hoping things settle down at work soon, because I'm exhausted. Thursday afternoon our vacuum broke, then Friday morning we woke up without water thanks to a broken well. Thankfully we now have a new vacuum and a working well :) After work Friday I picked up dog food, chick-fil-a, came home, then flew out the door to pound out a short two mile run before my folks, sis, and niece arrived.

Saturday morning my dad and Matt went fishing and us gals just relaxed at home. We sat outside for the majority of the morning and afternoon enjoying the sunshine! My sister brought their dog so we enjoyed watching all three dogs run around like goobers. I also let my niece fall into the creek off the dock while under my watch- oops. Thankfully I got her out fast and saved her glasses as well ;)

We left the house around 4 for the Beaufort Twilight run in Habersham. Phew, it was HOT! I did the challenge- both the 5k and 8k and am grateful I finished both without puking. I ran the 5k in 26:31 and the 8k in 44:59, both pretty good times for myself. I didn't stretch after either race so my groins are super tight today and I won't be running this evening. Matt had a wonderful dinner waiting on us when we got home- steak, fish, mashed potatoes (my fav!!), bell peppers, onions, and mushrooms!

This morning Matt and I had nursery duty so after a large breakfast (made by Matt again) we were out the door. We had 3 little ones this morning and a few crying spells, but we made it! Meg and dad picked up pizza on their way back from the outlets, so we ate and watched How to Train a Dragon with McKenzie. They left a bit ago, Matt vacuumed, the cable man is here fixing a few things, and I've got a few loads of laundry going.
Happy Sunday!

Poof, just like that...

...running confidence blown!

Went out for my 10- mile run this afternoon and it suckkkkked. I quit after 4. I blame myself since I didn't head out until 12, it was 87% humidity and 72 degrees, I've only run twice this week, and breakfast was well over 3 hours prior. This is my lame attempt to hold myself accountable and make myself run 10 miles before church in the morning!

After I got back I took the dogs down to the dock for a few minutes before it started drizzling. Scout took off on me (she keeps running to the neighbors houses) so we'll be indoors until Matt gets home and he can control her. Time for laundry! Happy Saturday!

Run, baby shower, and birthday party!

Last weekend was a whirlwind! And it's already Tuesday!

Friday afternoon around 4 Dr S, Jen, and I left for Savannah to run in the March of Dimes Shamrock 5k! I love leaving work early, especially on a Friday :) I felt incredible during the race and got a little sliver of running confidence back, just in time for the half at the end of the month! I ran an 8:49, 8:30, and 8:29- and once I passed a person I refused to let them pass me back! Seriously, I felt good.

After the run I took Jen back to Bluffton then headed home to Matt, who had a grilled cheese waiting for me :) I stayed up until 10ish making more baby shower sweet treats, in addition to the ones I made Thursday night.

Saturday morning Matt and I were on the road before 7am heading to Augusta to made a 9:40 tee time dad had made...and so I could get there at a decent hour to help my mom and Meg set up for Steven and Caylee's baby shower. I walked in the door and spent the next 3+ hours making tissue paper ball thingys..super cute but highly annoying and tedious. The baby shower BBQ started at 4 and I think everyone had fun! Steven and Caylee got quite a few sweet items for baby Harper. Less than 1 month before I'm an aunt for the 12th time! We hung out for awhile with the family before everyone dispersed and Matt talked us into going to bed early in preparation for spring forward.

Sunday morning we got up nice and early, which felt awful after springing forward! We went and visited with Matt's grandmother and grandfather for awhile before spending some time with his maw. Then we headed back into town for Cal's 4th birthday celebration, which turned into a nerf gun shootout thanks to Stevens gift! Never a dull moment with my fam :)

We stopped by my grandparents house (so thankful the majority of my family lives in the same area) on the way out of town to pick up their coffee table they gifted to Matt and I. They bought it in Korea 49ish years ago and I'm honored they entrusted us to keep it in the family. I was skeptical about how it would look in our house, but I'm in love with it!

March on

"Wait, wait, wait...it's March already?!"
Exactly. Spring is right around the corner!

On to the weekend recap, which is all I ever write about anyway ;)

Friday at work was rough for both Matt and I, so we split ways on the way out of Bluffton. He picked up dog food and I picked up Zaxby's for us people. We watched the Blacklist and went to bed- pretty much our Friday night ritual!

Saturday morning Matt was up at 6:30. 6:30! I was not happy, but decided to get up and get in my "long" run before the day started. Usually if my run doesn't happy before noon, it doesn't happen! I did 6 rough miles and I was so glad when it was over. I booked it home to shower and head into Bluffton for Mrs Susan's birthday morning! We had pedicures at my favorite place- they do the BEST leg and foot massage during the pedicure, which is all I ever really care about anyway :)
After our pampering session we headed out for brunch, which was also wonderful!

I did some grocery shopping before heading back home, then ended up being lazy for the rest of the afternoon. I washed a few loads of clothes and surfed a lot on Pinterest. We left for Savannah around 5 to grill out with the gang and make s'mores by the fire. Also a great time!

This morning I turned off our alarm for church, oops. It was such a dreary morning and Scout whined for a good 30 minutes so when she finally piped down I just turned by alarm right on off. Slept until 7:45, which felt like 9! Matt made us some pancakes for breakfast and then he started pouring concrete under our porch so I cleaned up a bit then headed out for a short run. I ran a 9:08, 8:43, and a 9:08- and felt like puking! Pancakes and syrup + coffee does not equal a good run...lesson learned. Matt was still fiddling with the porch when I got back, so I showered and headed back to town again. This time I only gift shopped- got Mrs Susan's birthday gift, a gift for our mail lady who's pregnant, Cal's birthday gift, a few cards, and Caylee/Steven's baby shower gift, whew! Done.

We fried up a lot of fish with Matt's parents, Molly, Craig, and Emily tonight. Matt did a wonderful job with all the different fish and it was all delicious! Especially the bag of fries we fried, yummy. I'm finishing up laundry and will be heading to bed early. I have vaccine inventory in the morning, boo.

Hoping for a fast week! Friday evening Jen, Dr S, and I are doing a Shamrock run in Savannah then Matt and I are heading to Augusta for a weekend of celebrating! We have Caylee and Stevens BBQ baby shower Saturday and Cal's birthday party on Sunday. Fun to be had!
