It's the little things

This week I have boring pictures, so this'll probably be a boring post.
This weekend is Matt's big surprise weekend, which somehow I have kept a secret this entire time (though I shouldn't say that since there's still tonight). I will be telling him via a note in the morning when I leave for my long run that he needs to pack an overnight bag and prepare for a fun weekend. I am SO excited! Speaking of, I still need to figure out what to do with Macie- oops.

Monday and Tuesday- hospital days. Good days.
Matt tried to "fix" my computer- AKA pull the CD out of the drive that was stuck.
RIP Toshiba

Wednesday- tried for an 8 mile run but wasn't able to eat beforehand because of a lab draw at 10, so I only made it 5.11 miles. I was hungry. The lab lady (we got labs drawn for our life insurance) jabbed at Matt so hard I thought he was going to punch her. Uncle Ducky came by for a surprise visit, so I got to spend some time with him. No pool time like I had planned, but my bro is more important :) Matt and I made the best dinner ever, but I was too full from a late lunch to enjoy much of it! Bummer.

Thursday- office day, good day. Got my 8 mile run in before work and it felt good(ish). Made for a sleepy day and an early night though. Gamecocks played their first game last night and I've never seen Matt so excited for college football. At halftime we took Macie and made her run beside the golf cart while we rode to get her tired out for bed, and it totally worked.

Friday- back at the hospital. I didn't make it up for my run before work, and honestly I think I might quit trying. 3:30 am for a run is a little ridiculous and perhaps overkill? Or maybe I'm making excuses. Tomorrow is a 12 mile run, so I doubt I'll get anything in today.

And this probably made me happier than it should- but usually strangers never ever spell my name right. This is only the 2nd time in history it's been spelled correctly without my prompting! Hooray for happy Friday's!

Fun friends = fun weekend

Phew, fun weekend! This week my hospital days are split up and I'm so excited about it!

Friday I had a really good, decently paced 7 mile run. It was supposed to be 8, but I got really thirsty so I stopped by the apartment for water and to pick up Macie for that last mile, then I lost my mojo. Oh well :) I felt really strong so I'm still good with 7.

After my run I walked Macie then rinsed off before heading to the pool for a few hours. I got really engrossed in a book, ended up staying 3 hours, and was super burned. I guess that's what no sun for over a month will do! I would share a picture but my sunglasses tan line was hideous. I came home, cleaned up, and had dinner waiting when Matt got off work. We ate, then decided we wanted some wine to cap off our wild Friday night. Good night in my opinion :)

Saturday morning my legs felt pretty heavy so only a 4 mile run happened and I'm ok with that. I figure I'm not going to kill myself training this next month and just enjoy it. Matt and I chilled around the apartment before heading to enjoy the afternoon on Daniel and Cassady's boat. They told us they're expecting and we are so thrilled!! I can't wait to meet baby boy/girl! We stayed on the water until 5ish and we reluctantly headed back to shore to get ready for dinner. Shane, Alissa, Bobby, Sara, and Cuyler joined us...Daniel and Cassady shared their news with them also and we toasted and celebrated baby Willard, who should be joining us in early April. We picked up Cooper on the way home (dog sitting for Megan and Scott while they're at the beach) and were in bed by 11.

This morning we walked the dogs and began our normal Sunday activities, minus church, oops. We went grocery shopping and were back home by lunchtime. We spent our afternoon looking at more land and visiting with Matt's parents. He's currently performing surgery on one of my toenails that's about to bite the bullet. Oh, and I made this chicken pot pie for dinner...didn't look pretty but it was delicious!!

Hola Friday!

Hello Friday!!
Today I have no plans, except a few errands and an 8- mile run, and I love it. Hopefully it won't rain and I can get some sun on my rapidly paling body, but if it does then I can get some good cleaning time in.

So, Matt and I have been house/land hunting for the past few weeks and it's quite fun. Slightly frustrating since we haven't found anything within our price range, but fun since I'm finding lots of little cool spots in Bluffton. Matt should probably quit taking me places like this though...

One of their renovation places that cost the owner mucho dinero, so I get a little envious ;)
Oh, and we got a canoe from one of his owners that came with a little motor and 2 extra batteries! Matt picked that up while I got to go on a shopping spree for our two new nieces arriving this Fall.

Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday were great at the hospital. I let my orientee do all the work and I helped her and my coworkers throughout the day. Monday I woke up to do tae bo and it felt goooood to get some stretching in. Tuesday I attempted a run on the treadmill and just got too grumpy with trying to run faster, sweat dripping all over the place, and my iPad not playing the TV show I wanted. I made it 1.5 miles, walked another 0.5 and headed on home. Not worth the 3:35 alarm, so Wednesday I opted for sleep :)

Yesterday morning I got up with Matt with the intent of doing my 8-mile run before work at the office, but we had a lightning and thunder show going on so Matt kinda told me no. I crawled back in bed and slept for another hour- glorious. Office was crazy busy and I was by myself for a good 2 hours which made it all the more crazy. I didn't get out of there until 6, and since Matt was at some builders thing, I headed out for some sort of run. I ran 5 and it felt so good...I ran speedier (for me) than I have in a long time. My hips have been bothering me for awhile and they felt decent during the run...though they feel pretty tight today. I'm fairly certain this is because I don't stretch nearly enough (or at all) post-run. Usually I just want to cool off by walking Macie or I'm in a rush and need a shower. I need to be better at this :)

The liquids I need to make it through any day  at the office!

Got our wedding pictures yesterday so my goal is to get my dinosaur laptop up and running today so I can download pictures! Thought I could use Matt's new computer, but apparently he got some little notebook thingy that doesn't have a CD drive either. I leave you with a few I took with my phone :)

Friday night and the color run

This is how Chance and I ended our day together- watching the thunderstorm and Popsicles. Hoping he had fun with his aunt yesterday :)

Matt and I were supposed to run into Savannah to pick up race packets for the run this morning, but I was not game for driving all that way in the storms. We drove back to Palmetto Bluff for him to drop off plastic at a new house that apparently has a leak, then we picked up dinner at the Kickin Chicken. Very yum- and very fried. I need to get back on my "nothing fried" diet; I felt way better during that time. The boys were getting together for poker, so Macie and I had a girls night in. We left to fill my car with gas and to find a $5 chick flick at Target- mission succeeded!

This morning my alarm started going off at 5, and somehow I was wide awake and excited. Jen (I work with her at Seaside) convinced/guilted me into signing up for the Color Run in Savannah with her. She found a coupon anddddd a promo code, which made the deal too good to pass up (normally $45, we registered for $25). I picked her up at 5:45 since we had to get there super early to pick up our stuff. We got there with plenty of time to spare and the event was really organized! Very surprised since I'm fairly certain this was the first color run in Savannah. We had a blast running and Jen ran the whole way! She is just been getting into running the past few months, so this was a big deal- so proud and happy for her! It was really a great time and it reminded me that running IS fun! I've been struggling with marathon training and it was nice to run for fun and not pace/time/high mileage. Sister wants to do the one in Augusta in October so I'm on the lookout for coupon and promo codes!

Friday five

Five things on this rainy Friday...

1. I'm thankful it's Friday. My hospital days were off the chain, especially Wednesday...think circumcisions, bagging a baby on 3 separate occasions, still orienting a new grad, getting twins during my lunch break, and a random drug screen. Like I said, I'm quite glad it's over. Thursday was easy peezy at the doc office.

2. Throwback Thursday, aka #tbt on instagram, always makes me homesick! I see everyone posting their pictures, which makes me look through old albums on shutterfly, which always leads me to feeling sad and homesick. I should probably just stay away fom instagram on Thursday's :)

3. Running is hard. And hot. And really hard. Sound like I'm struggling? Cause I am! I seem to do this every year during marathon training, which is why I think Chicago will be my last full marathon for a few years. I love to run, but training burns me out and it makes me want to quit...so no more! I want to love it all the time! An early Fall would certainly help with this :) (and speaking of Fall, I got some new attachments the other day- love!) So far this week- 3 miles Wednesday, 5.5 Thursday, 7 today...5k planned for tomorrow and a dreadful 15 miler on Sunday.

4. Babysitting Mr. Chance today and enjoying movies while it's raining and running outside to ride the tractor when it's not. Took him to chick-fil-a because he wanted chicken and to play on the playground, but he passed out on the way! So we went through the drive-thru and brought it home. He keeps asking where Matt is :)

5. Wedding pictures! Heather is supposed to be done with them by today, so hopefully I'll have them soon! After 7 weeks I'm finally getting pretty antsy to see them; my patience has run out :)

Heading to Savannah when Scott gets home to pick up our race packets for the color run tomorrow morning! It'll be fun!

Sunday funday

My grumpy pants were gone the rest of the week, thankfully. I don't know what my deal was Monday!

I managed to get a 7-mile run in before work Thursday, which wasn't that bad since I didn't have to get up until Matt did. We had a fairly slow day at the office...my coworker had plenty of time to convince me to sign up for the color run in Savannah next weekend. I'm a sucker but I'm kinda pumped about a short, really fun run. Matt and I had dinner together, then went over to Megan and Scott's. We hopped on their golf cart with Chance to go deer sighting and check out a few lots for sale- no luck...everything is quite expensive out there! We came home and Matt attempted to perform surgery on my falling-off-already toenail. He just made it bleed.

Friday morning I slept in until a glorious 7:30, then finally made it out for a 4-mile run about 8:40. I was supposed to do 5, but decided in the heat and humidity that 4 would suffice. I came home and walked Macie for another mile, so it totally counts :) Matt and I had a lunch appointment with his insurance guy to talk life insurance; such a fun topic. We finished that up and I headed over to Palmetto Running Company to get analyzed and fitted for some running shoes. The guy spent a good bit of time with me so I ended up buying a pair from him...then headed on over to Dicks to buy a second pair :) I'm hoping to switch off between the two so I'm not buying shoes every 3-4 months. Also got some socks that are way comfy.

Got my haircut, picked up a few things from Target, and met Matt back at home for our date night to Guiseppi's. We ordered, got a sweet vacuum from BB&B with our remaining gift cards, then rented a movie. It was a relaxing way to kick off the weekend!!

Saturday morning I was up before my alarm to cross a long run off my list for the week- 10 miles in my new socks and shoes. I was going to wear my new camelback but chickened out. I might try it during a short run this week when less people will see me to make fun of me! Matt took Macie to the vet while I was running (more skin infections) then went up to his parents to work on their hunting land. I got home, showered, then sat on the couch watching chick flicks. Also ordered two pairs of pants from Gap for $35...major sale...and free shipping, score! We looked at a couple more lots when he got home, got some ice cream, then took off for Savannah for Michael and Kristen's engagement party at Kevin and Gail's house- so nice. We had fun catching up with friends and partaking in a low country boil. We got home at 11ish and promptly fell asleep.

Short sweaty hair is way easier than long sweaty hair!!

We didn't set any alarms for this morning, so somehow we slept in until 9:15!! Still plenty of time to get to late church, make lunch, grocery shop, cook my meals for the week (and Matt's for tomorrow night), go to Best Buy, and pick up dinner and a movie. We're about to pop in the movie then head off to bed. Monday is back again tomorrow!

Have a lovely week :)

Birthday parties and grumpy pants

So, picking up where we left off...

Matt and I headed into town Friday afternoon around 2ish, made a pit stop at ColdStone for some ice ceram, then headed over to mom and dads for papas famous smoked BBQ pizza. Yum.

Saturday morning started off way too early, thanks to Matt and dad making a tee time for 7:20 am- so dumb. Meg let Macie back inside so she came running back in the room and wouldn't let me get back to sleep, so I was up at 6:50 on a Saturday. Anyway, Meg and McKenzie got up at 8ish and we got ready to go to the lake for a bit with mom. We drove 35+ minutes to get there and only managed to stay for about 1.5 hours...but we had to get back so sister could buy stuff for McKenzie's birthday party.

After running around Augusta we got back home and I took Macie for a sweaty 30 minute walk- she reallllly wanted to quit after 10 minutes, but we pushed through. McKenzie and I gave ourselves manicures (with Matt's assistance) then we headed over to Jimi and Christopher's for game night and had a blast eating pizza and ice cream, watching the Braves win their 9th straight, and playing Just Dance. Christopher, dad, and Matt all refused to show us their moves, so it was mainly me, Meg, Riley, and Jimi busting up the dance floor. I didn't win much.

Sunday we were up at 7ish so I could go for a quick run and so Matt could have a little training session with Macie. I did 4 miles at the creek trails and thought I was going to die- it's all rolling hills back there. We went to church, grabbed some lunch, then got everything ready for the big birthday party. Guests started arriving at 3ish and they had a blast playing in the pool and running through the slip-n-slide.

All in all it was a great, fast weekend.
I woke up Monday with some serious grumpy pants on and didn't shake out of my bad mood until after lunch. I tried to work alone as much as possible so I wouldn't pass my mood on to anyone else!

This morning I had a terrible, terrible 3 mile run and wanted to walk from the beginning. I ran slow and it was painful..not sure if it's because I need new shoes, if I'm still recovering from my long run Friday, or if it was because of the hills yesterday. My knees are sore and I'm hoping a good nights sleep will cure me- I have a date in the morning with the treadmill for a 7 miler!

And look at these kiddos starting school!
