PA (#2)- the expo, 5k, 10k

After leaving Love Park in Philly we headed straight for the race expo to pick up our bibs and packets. Won't lie- the expo was so underwhelming...there weren't a whole lot of booths and definitely minimal samples to try! So we pretty much picked up our stuff, did a run by, then headed back to the hotel.

We walked around Bethleham some more in search of dinner and ended up at a brick pizza place- pretty good but our pizza was super spicy andddd it was BYOB. Not a fan of all that. We were back to the hotel and asleep by 9 (well Matt and I definitely were anyway).

We were up by 6 am Saturday, got ready, then had breakfast downstairs before Matt drove us to the start. The 5k was first and went really well. It was pretty congested starting out, but we finished in 29:20 and kept a 9:13 minute pace, not too bad.

We had about an hour between the 5 and 10k, which didn't feel all that long. Thankfully it wasn't too chilly out! Our 10k was definitely more challenging with all the hills we encountered so we finished in 1:01:23, a 9:46 minute pace. Day one was done!

After the races we cleaned up then headed to a wing place to chow down and watch football. Thankfully they found the SEC network for the SC game so Matt and Hal were happy. We never could find it again for the GA game which was a huge bummer for me. After the game we drove about an hour north to check out Bushkill Falls, a popular waterfall in PA. It was so pretty! And the walk was challenging, especially wearing dressier boots and jeans. Not to mention after running two races back to back!

Pennsylvania trip...part 1

...breaking our trip up into two (or three...) parts, mainly because I know how annoyed I get when trying to use a lot of pictures!

Last Thursday Matt and I got up at our normal times so I could run and he could walk Macie and try to wear her out. Our flight was slightly earlier than I remembered and we were running about 15-20 minutes late. Typical. Thankfully there was zero activity at the Savannah airport and we got there in plenty of time. We landed in Pennsylvania right around 2, picked up the rental car, ate lunch, then went back to the airport and picked up Hal and Stephanie (who last minute got to go on the trip!). We checked in to our hotel, chatted for awhile, then set out to explore the quaint little town of Bethleham. Our hotel was perfect for walking into town!

And the town was so cute. I would've loved to explore our little area much more!

Friday morning we got up and set out for Philelphia. We visited the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall (sadly, both of which I had no idea were in Philly!).

We also set out to figure out who had the best Philly cheesesteak- Pat's versus Geno's- supposedly the biggest two rivals in Philelphia. We loved Pat's way better than Geno's! Though, I had never even had a cheesesteak before then so I have zip to compare to.

Before we left I wanted to check out Love Park since it looked so cool in pictures, so we made our way across town again. So disappointing!! The statue was super small, not at all like I expected! And they were having a pretty heated rally, so we jumped out, took a few pictures, then headed back to Bethleham for the race expo!

Wedding festivities

Loads of fun this weekend- more than I thought!

We got to Margaret and Chris's house about 8 Friday evening and chatted for quite awhile. We also watched a new creepy tv show- Stalker- that I actually liked! Sunday morning after sleeping until 8 (!) we sat and chatted some more while Margaret made a big yummy breakfast. The boys went to check out some trail cameras while the girls stayed behind and did some coloring and more chit chatting ;) Molly, Craig and Emily joined in around lunchtime and we all hung out for a bit watching the GA game and eating lunch.

Matt and I took off about 12:40 for Amelia Island and got there right at 2. We checked in to our hotel and I pretty much immediately started getting ready since the shuttles would start transporting us to the ceremony site at 3:45. The wedding had a late start, but it was over within 30 minutes; before I knew it we were back on the shuttles heading towards the reception site! Both sites were beautiful! We had so much fun hanging out, drinking wine, and dancing :)

After the sparkler send off, most of us went back to the hotel lobby and had a few more cocktails before turning in for the night. I'm fairly sure we were in bed before midnight! We slept in until a glorious 9am this morning, showered up, then met Daniel and Cassady for an early lunch before heading back home.

When we got back home I couldn't resist sitting on the dock for an hour because it felt wonderful outside! Matt did some yard work, I unpacked, then went for a terribly pukish short run.
Glad I ran, but ew.

Next up- a short 3-day work week then off to PA!

Just in case you missed me ;)

I was doing so well keeping up! Oh well.

Last weekend went by in a flash! Mom, dad, Meg, and McKenzie made it to our house about 7:30, right about the same time I finally made it home from work and grocery shopping for the weekend. We chatted for a bit, showed them around the house, then went go bed at a decent hour.

Saturday morning I met up with Dr S and did the Beaufort Shrimp festival 5k. It was a beautiful morning for a race! We both did well but neither of us placed and got a mini shrimp boat, bummer. I started out way too fast, as usual, and crapped out towards the end (8:08, 8:39, 9:14). I really need to learn how to pace myself! My official time was 26:20 and Dr S beat her best time by almost a minute!

I got home right as Matt, dad, and Craig were leaving for some guy fishing time so us girls hung out in the front yard stretching and doing cartwheels  and handstands. Well, McKenzie did most and we were her audience.

PS- I really need a computer. My iPad sucks seriously with these blog posts.
Seriously.

Anyway, the rest of Saturday was spent on the dock either fishing (dad caught a few sting rays- no fishies), crabbing, attempting to shrimp, or just hanging out. We also watched GA play and most of the SC game- fell asleep before we saw them lose. Matt and dad grilled steaks to cap off Matt's birthday celebrations and to start Meagan's.

Sunday morning Matt made a big breakfast, Meg tried taking a few pictures of Matt and I for a Christmas card, and lots more time on the dock. Craig took Matt, Meagan, McKenzie and I out for a cruise where we saw a baby shark swimming (not happy about that sighting) and 4-5 dolphins! Pretty sure that (and crabbing) were the highlights of Mckenzie's visit. We ate some ice cream Sundays then our visitors left us...I think I convinced them to come back next month ;) Matt went hunting and I went on a cleaning frenzy.

In a few hours we'll be off to Brunswick to hang out with Margaret, Chris and the kiddos before heading to Amelia Island for a wedding tomorrow!

PS- happy 27th birthday to my fav sister!
